Endicott College Student Charged In String Of Attacks

BEVERLY (CBS) - An Endicott College sophomore is under arrest, charged with randomly attacking three fellow students.

Police say Dillon Destefano, 19, of New Jersey punched students in the face without warning in three separate attacks in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 2nd.

The attacks happened within an hour of one another. Two students suffered serious injuries, a third victim had just minor injuries.

One of the victims, a freshman baseball player was hospitalized with a broken jaw and is still not back at school.

"It was three assaults within an hour and he didn't even know them, the students. It was just a random act of violence," Wylie told WBZ.

Other students at the school helped police catch Destefano. Some recognized him, others heard him brag about the attacks according to Wylie.

Two other Endicott students were with DeStefano during the assaults. They turned themselves in to college authorities. Destefano later went to campus security and was arrested by Beverly Police.

As of Tuesday night, he was being held on $20,000 bail and awaiting a court appearance Wednesday morning.
