Edwin Alemany Found Guilty Of Kidnapping, Murdering Amy Lord

BOSTON (CBS) -- A jury has found Edwin Alemany guilty of kidnapping and murdering a South Boston woman nearly two years ago.

Prosecutors argued that Alemany kidnapped 24-year-old Amy Lord from her apartment, beat her, and forced her to withdraw $960 from several ATMs.

He then drove her to Stony Brook Reservation in Hyde Park and stabbed her to death. Her car was later found burned.

Alemany faced multiple charges, including carjacking and armed robbery. Early in the trial, jurors were taken to South Boston to retrace the final few hours of Lord's life.

Alemany's lawyers had argued that their client be found not guilty by reason of insanity.

Lord's family was seen crying out in court after the verdicts were read. They chose not to speak publicly following the verdict.

Alemany is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday.
