Eataly Boston Sells 2,000 Pizza Slices, 700 Cannolis On Opening Night

BOSTON (CBS) –- How much does Boston love Italian food? The numbers don't lie.

Hundreds of people visited Eataly – the new three-story, 45,000-square-foot Italian market – when it opened in the Prudential Center last Tuesday.

In just one night, customers bought about 2,000 pieces of pizza and 500 rustic loaves of bread at the bakery.

They also picked up 700 cannolis, 2,500 coffee drinks at its two cafes and hundreds of pounds of cheese.

Eataly has four restaurants, 10 takeaway counters, five bars and a wide selection of groceries.
