Driver Charged In Alleged Hit-And-Run That Killed An 8-Year-Old Girl

BOSTON (CBS/AP) — A Boston man has been charged in the death of an 8-year-old girl who was struck and killed by a car over the weekend.

Prosecutors say 45-year-old James Horton hit 8-year-old Jadielys Deleon Camacho and her 12 year old cousin on Saturday in the city's Mattapan neighborhood before fleeing the scene on foot. Police found Horton Sunday hiding in the closet of a Brockton home.

Family members say the children were at their grandmother's birthday party and were riding bikes.

Witnesses said the car hit a parked car and struck a fence.

Horton is being held on $500,000 cash bail. He is due back in court on July 13.

A makeshift memorial was set up at the crash scene on Sunday afternoon.
