Driver Sentenced In Crash That Killed 20-Year-Old Sharon Woman

BOSTON (CBS) -- A man convicted of hitting and killing a Sharon woman with his car was sentenced Friday to 2 1/2 years in prison.

Jeffrey Bickoff struck 20-year-old Haley Cremer while she was jogging in her neighborhood. The impact caused her to travel more than 85 feet through the air. Bickoff was driving with a suspended license at the time.

The case prompted a new state law requiring the Registry of Motor Vehicles to notify local police departments when their residents have suspended or revoked licenses.

Bickoff was found guilty of Motor Vehicle Homicide by negligent operation and reckless assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The judge also sentenced Bickoff to three years of probation. He will also lose his driver's license for 15 years.
