Driver Charged With OUI After Somerset Pedestrian Killed

SOMERSET, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts State Police say a man walking on Interstate 195 in Somerset has been struck by a vehicle and killed, and the driver has been charged with drunken driving.

Police say the single-car crash happened about 8:30 p.m. Saturday on the westbound side of the interstate near Exit 4B. They identified the driver as 55-year-old Horacio Goncalo of Fall River. He was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol. Authorities say additional charges may follow based on the investigation.

Police say the pedestrian died at the scene. His name was not immediately released.

No other details were released Saturday.
