Driver Busted After K-9 Allegedly Finds 4 Kilos Of Cocaine In Van

CANTON (CBS) – State troopers arrested a Wisconsin man Saturday morning on drug charges after 4 kilos of cocaine were found in his van, state police said.

State police said troopers stopped a Nissan Quest van for unspecified motor vehicle violations on Route 93 northbound in Canton about 10 a.m.

Troopers spoke with the driver, Hector Rivera Martinez, 40, of Milwaukee, and then called for a K-9 trooper to come to the scene, state police said.

When the K-9 unit arrived, state police said, Martinez jumped over the guardrail and down an embankment. Troopers took Martinez into custody a short time later.

State police said the K-9 sniffed out four bundles of cocaine hidden in the van

Martinez was charged with cocaine trafficking and is being held on $200,000 bail.

He is expected to appear in court Monday for arraignment, state police said.
