Missing Dracut Woman Found Safe

DRACUT (CBS) – A Dracut grandmother who had gone missing was found safe following a three-day search.

Kathy Lucier, who has severe Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's, had last been seen on Sunday around 2 p.m.

On Wednesday, the Lucier family posted that she had been found.

"The Lucier family will never be able to repay you all for the love and kindness you have shown us," the family wrote. "Thank you all for praying and thank you for searching day and night. There will never be enough words to say in the world to express our gratitude."

Dracut firefighter Justin George found Lucier during a search of the area. A bowl on the ground led George to Lucier, as he remembered she was eating a bowl of ice cream when she went missing.

"She was outside of the carport almost nestled up against it," George said.

Lucier was found in the backyard of Jennifer Laurin, possibly using a boat and a camper in the yard as shelter during the cold nights.

"I immediately jumped up and I couldn't believe it," said Laurin. "I said 'We have checked this yard. People have been in this yard every day since she went missing. How could she be here?' I was in disbelief."

When George found her, he said Lucier was not in good shape.

"When I first saw her, her eyes were open, her mouth was open, she wasn't moving. She was cold," George said. "Unfortunately, I thought she had passed."

Hearing she survived was a relief.

"When I heard that she was moving and she was alive then my heart felt a little better," Laurin said.."I was feeling like really, oh my God, how could she have been here? We're thinking my camper door was open, so we're thinking she may have  actually been in my camper."

"The fact that a 75-year-old woman at 100 pounds survived three nights now at 30 degree temperatures," George said, "the woman's a warrior."
