Dozens Attend Vigil To Support Conn. Teen In Custody Battle Over Medical Care

FRAMINGHAM (CBS) –There was a vigil Saturday to support the Connecticut teenager who has been involved in a year-long custody battle with Massachusetts.

Dozens came out in Framingham for 15-year-old Justina Pelletier.

Pelletier's parents say their daughter suffers from mitochondrial disease -- a controversial disorder that brings on chronic fatigue and severe digestive problems.

But Children's Hospital doctors essentially accused her parents of medical child abuse.

A judge agreed, and now the Department of Children and Families says they want her parents to work with the doctors and the court to move her back to Connecticut.

Doctors from Tufts Medical Center, who originally diagnosed Pelletier, will soon oversee her treatment.
