Dover Bridge To Close For Repairs

DOVER (CBS) -- A bridge that crosses over the Charles River and connects Dover and Needham will be shut down for more than a week starting Monday while improvements are made to it, police say.

The Centre Street bridge is being repaired after the concrete guardrail sustained significant damage from a single-vehicle crash in June. The Dover Highway Department placed several jersey barriers, as a temporary fix, police said.

The work may take around 10 days to complete.

Electronic sign boards are already in place to give drivers advanced notice of the work, police say, and detours will be clearly marked.

On the Dover side, northbound traffic will be diverted from Centre Street to Claybrook Road, to Main Street, to Dover Road, and then back to Central Avenue, police say.

On the Needham side, southbound traffic will be diverted from Central Avenue to Charles River Road, to Main Street, to Claybrook Road, and back to Centre Street, police said.
