Loved ones of 30-year-old Natlino Gomes say he was closing Peguero's Market when he was shot.

Those living above the store heard at least five or six shots.

Bullet holes can be seen in the windows of the store, which remains marked off by police tape on Saturday.

"I was very surprised," said regular customer Ernesto Aponte. "I felt bad because he was a very nice guy he used to help everybody around here."

Candles have been set up outside the store in tribute to the victim.

Etsel Fres lives above the grocery store and was awoken by police responding to the shooting.

"He was a good guy. That's why everyone is sad today," Fres said.

No further details have been released on the shooting.
