Man Wanted In Dorchester Murder Arrested At Brockton Motel

BOSTON (CBS) – A man wanted for a murder in Dorchester was captured in Brockton early Wednesday morning.

Shakeem McNeill, 28, of Brockton, is charged with shooting and killing a man on Millet Street in Dorchester around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Shakeem McNeill allegedly shot the 37-year-old when the victim argued with McNeill over barbecuing.

According to court documents, McNeill began grilling in Brown's yard. Brown asked McNeill not to barbecue in the Browns' yard.

According to the prosecutor, McNeill yelled, "Is this how you want to play?" then shot Brown four times in front of Brown's wife.

"She was right there, and she could have been shot.  They were together; she is tore up about it," Ernest Bridges said of his daughter, who was Brown's wife. Bridges remembered Brown as a good father. "He was a working guy; he wasn't a street runner. He was someone who had two beautiful children and loved them to death."

Several hours after the shooting, officers from Boston and Brockton went to the Super 8 Motel on Westgate Drive in Brockton and arrested McNeil;, Boston Police said. A white BMW SUV was also towed away from the motel's parking lot.

McNeil has a lengthy criminal history which includes attempted murder, drugs and weapons charges. McNeill was arraigned on Wednesday and held without bail.
