Man Killed In Dorchester Hit-And-Run

BOSTON (CBS) - A Dorchester woman has been charged after a fatal hit-and-run crash Wednesday morning.

A man, who was apparently a construction worker, was struck and killed by a mini-van on Washington Street near Harvard Street just after 8 a.m., according to WBZ-TV's Nicole Jacobs.

The van was later found nearly two miles away on Morton Street, according to police.  It had a shattered windshield and a dented front bumper.

Police say they arrested 34-year-old Melissa Benedict and charged her with motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene of an accident causing death. She will be arraigned Thursday morning.

The van is registered to VHS Transportation in Easton.  The company had no comment Wednesday morning.

No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
