Dorchester Shooting Leaves 1 Dead

BOSTON (CBS/AP) — Police in Boston are investigating a shooting that has left one person dead.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the city's Dorchester neighborhood around 11 p.m. Saturday.

Police say the victim was found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in his car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Linda Welsh lives on Nottingham Street, where the man was killed.

"I've seen him, he has always been really respectful," she recalled. "But just to see his body, laying there for hours, you know -- it's hard."

The fact that it is a senseless killing and that you can take someone's life that easy, it's just heartbreaking," she added.

Neighbors say that he was killed just hours before Mother's Day and the annual Mother's Day Walk For Peace.

Further details weren't immediately available.
