Dog's Barking Helps Police Catch 2 Suspects After Car Chase

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A police chase that began in Scituate ended in North Providence with the help of a clever canine.

Scituate police say a woman reported seeing several people trying to break into a home Monday morning. Officers spotted the car on Route 12 and gave chase.

Police say a girl under 18 was driving with at least four men inside. The occupants got out in North Providence and tried to flee. Two people tried to hide underneath a nearby porch, but 2-year-old Remy noticed the suspects and began barking. The owner, who is a former Providence police officer, says he pretended he had a weapon and ordered them out.

All of the vehicle's occupants were arrested. They are investigating what, if anything, was stolen.
