Body Of Missing Swimmer Found In Milford Quarry

MILFORD (CBS) – Dive crews have recovered the body of a swimmer who went missing at a quarry in Milford on Sunday.

Authorities say 18-year-old Nentor Dahn of Providence, Rhode Island was with friends and family when he disappeared.

Fletcher Quarry is a popular swimming spot for teens who come from all over.

Witnesses say Dahn appeared to hit the water awkwardly after jumping off a cliff. He never resurfaced.

First responders were called to the quarry at around 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Dive teams worked until 7 p.m. when the lack of light forced them to stop. The man's body was found Monday morning in 70 feet of water.

Searchers used sonar to find Dahn's body.

Milford Deputy Fire Chief Mark Nelson said the quarry off Walden Way is not a good place to swim.

The quarry, which is 100 feet deep, is littered with cars and junk, authorities said.
