First reports came out Sunday that running back Dion Lewis needs a second knee surgery.
As @globejimmcbride reported, Patriots RB Dion Lewis needs "clean-up" surgery on left knee. Feeling is that he still could return this year.

According to CSNNE's Tom Curran, Lewis "had a complication after his ACL surgery and needs to have a second procedure." A source told Curran that procedure "doesn't involve the ACL or any other ligaments."
As a result, Lewis will reportedly begin the season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
He has not played in a game since November 8 when he tore his left ACL in the Patriots week 7 win over the Washington Redskins.
A short time later, the Boston Globe's Jim McBride reported that offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer is likely going to be moved from the PUP list to injured reserve with an undisclosed injury. Curran reported Vollmer is dealing with a "nagging hip injury."
One thing to remember with Vollmer is that he could still return down the line. Teams don't have to designate IR-Return right away anymore

Then McBride tweeted that guard Shaq Mason has a broken hand.
BREAKING: #Patriots G Shaq Mason has broken hand, per league source. Timetable for the second-year player's return is unknown at this time.

Curran also reported that quarterback Tom Brady has been excused from practices Sunday and Monday.
It is not injury-related, a source told Curran. Brady missed Thursday's preseason game after he cut his right thumb.
