Description Released Of Girl Found Dead On Deer Island

WINTHROP (CBS) – Investigators released a physical description of a young girl whose body was found on Deer Island Thursday.

On Friday, investigators said they believe the girl was about 4 years old with brown eyes, and brown hair that was about 14 inches long.

The girl was about 3.5 feet tall and weighed just over 30 pounds. Her ethnicity has not been established.

An autopsy was completed Friday on the girl. Investigators have not yet found the cause or manner of her death.

On Friday, police combed the beach where the girl's body was found by a woman walking her dog. A dive team could be seen entering the water in the area.

It is unclear how the girl's body ended up on the western shoreline of Deer Island.

Police are attempting to link the girl to existing reports of missing children.
