Dennis Police Arrest Suspect In Shooting Outside Liquor Store

DENNIS (CBS) – A man was arrested early Friday evening after a shooting in the parking lot of a Dennis liquor store.

It happened around 3 p.m. on Main Street. Crime tape was set up in the parking lot of Finley's Liquor Store.

The Dennis Fire Department transported a man to a MedFlight helicopter waiting at Barnstable Municipal Airport. The man was then brought to Mass General Hospital.

Massachusetts State Police said the shooting is "non-fatal as of this time."

A suspect was arrested shortly after 5 p.m. His identity was not released.

Shortly after the shooting, Dennis Police began pursuing a suspect on a dirt bike on Route 6 westbound. The driver, who was initially believed to be involved in the shooting, made a U-turn in the median and continued eastbound. At that point, State Police took over the pursuit.

Police lost sight of the suspect in traffic when he took Exit 9 onto Route 134 southbound. The bike was eventually found abandoned and taken into police custody.

Dennis Police said there is no confirmed connection between the dirt bike driver and the shooting. Police are searching for the identity of the driver for motor vehicle charges.
