Death Penalty Decision Due At End Of Week For Boston Marathon Bombings Suspect

BOSTON (CBS) – U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said he will announce by Friday whether federal prosecutors will seek the death penalty for Boston Marathon bombings suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Tsarnaev is charged in connection with four murders in the attack and manhunt that followed before he was captured in Watertown April 19.

He has pleaded not guilty to a 30-count federal indictment, including a charge of using a weapon of mass destruction.

A trial date hasn't been set.

Holder made his announcement Wednesday at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.
