DCR Closes Several Skating Rinks Due To Heavy Snowfall

BOSTON (CBS) - The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation announced that several skating rinks will be closed Friday evening until further notice due to heavy snowfall.

"...In the interest of public safety for visitors and staff at its skating rink facilities, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation will close (five) of its agency-operated rink facilities this evening to conduct structural engineering assessments," reads the press statement.

"The facilities will remain closed until these assessments are completed."

The closed rinks include:

  • Bajko Rink, Hyde Park
  • Connell Rink and Pool, Weymouth
  • Devine Rink, Dorchester
  • Murphy Rink, South Boston
  • Reilly Rink, Chestnut Hill
  • DCR's O'Neil Rink in Charlestown, Steriti Rink in Boston's North End and Kelly Outdoor Rink in Jamaica Plain will remain open after the agency completed assessments at these sites.
