Dartmouth Police Arrest Babysitter In Assault Of 4-Year-Old

DARTMOUTH (CBS) -- A Fall River man was taken into custody Wednesday after police say he assaulted and beat the four-year-old child he was babysitting.

Dartmouth police detectives arrested Richard Pinheiro, 28, at an apartment on Ledgewood Boulevard. Neighbors had made an anonymous call to police about a disturbance in the apartment.

Pinheiro was charged with Assault and Battery with Injury on a Child Under the Age of Fourteen. He is currently being held without bail.

The child was treated for injuries received during the assault at St. Luke's Hospital and then released.
