Danvers Teen Indicted On 2nd Rape Charge In Teacher Killing

SALEM, Mass. (AP) — A 15-year-old boy charged with killing his math teacher has been indicted on a second aggravated rape charge.

A grand jury in Essex County indicted Philip Chism Friday on a charge alleging that he forcibly had sexual intercourse with Colleen Ritzer, a teacher at Danvers High School.

Chism, who was 14 when Ritzer was killed in October, was charged earlier with aggravated rape for allegedly sexually assaulting Ritzer with a stick.

Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett's office recalled the grand jury to present additional evidence Friday. The grand jury then indicted him on the additional charge.

Chism has pleaded not guilty to murder, aggravated rape and armed robbery charges. A spokeswoman for Blodgett said he could be arraigned on the new charge next week.

Chism's lawyer did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
