Daniels: Florida Gators Taking 'Long, Hard Look At Josh McDaniels'

BOSTON (CBS) - Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Adam Jones on Monday night to discuss all things Patriots, including the rumors surrounding offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

McDaniels' name keeps coming up in the Florida Gators head coaching search, first reported by FootballScoop.com and recently picked up by other media outlets.

Florida recently relieved Will Muschamp of his head coaching duties, and the report states that Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley considers McDaniels a "viable candidate and is vetting him as well."

The ProJo's Mark Daniels gives credence to the rumors.

"From what I understand they're taking a long, hard look at Josh McDaniels. Josh has been a hot name for awhile. He has a little bit, and I mean a little bit of experience in the college ranks. This will be interesting. He was a graduate assistant at Michigan State under Nick Saban actually. I imagine Josh McDaniels is going to be a head coach at some point, and it'll be interesting to see if he goes the college route," Daniels told Adam Jones Monday night.

Patriots fans have their gripes with him on occasion, but Josh McDaniels is a proven offensive mind, and he would be taking over a Florida offense ranked 90th out of 125.

"[McDaniels] is a good name attached to a good offense, so we'll see. Last year the Cleveland Browns were looking at him to fill the head coaching position. It's the end of the year and it's kind of the same old thing from him."
