Dangerous Bacteria Found In Single-Serve Coffee Makers

DALLAS (CBS) -- If you brew your first cup of coffee with a Keurig, you may want to wash it first.

CBS stations in Dallas, Pittsburgh and Chicago tested dozens of single-serving coffee makers and found various bacteria.

The swabs found colonies of the usual suspects. . . E-coli, staph, strep -- any of which can make you sick.

The best advice to avoid illness is to clean the machine daily, change the water after every use and use filtered water instead of tap.
