Daily Talker: Veteran forced to stand outside of Walmart store

For nearly 15 years, a Marine has been collecting donations for the Toys for Tots program inside a Walmart in Ohio. But, that all changed this week. The new store manager told John Harkness he could still collect donations, but he had to do it outside the store.

This angered a lot of people shopping at that Walmart store. The story has since gained attention and created a firestorm on social media.

A Walmart spokesperson said its corporate policy across the company's more than 4500 stores does not allow this type of solicitation inside the stores.  If the Marine had been allowed inside over the years, then the store manager was breaking the rules.

But, some say the rules shouldn't apply. They believe a veteran collecting donations for underprivileged children should be given different treatment.
