Daily Talker: Soda Tax

People in two California cities will be heading to the polls tomorrow to cast their ballot on an issue that has failed in more than two dozen U.S. cities and states since 2009. We're talking about a special tax on sugary beverages. It's something that the soda industry has been fighting for years. A "yes" vote in either San Francisco or Berkeley would make history in the U.S., but there is plenty of opposition. If passed, the tax would add 40 cents to the cost of a 20-ounce bottle of soda and nearly $3 to a 12-pack of 12-ounce cans. A similar proposal has failed in Massachusetts before. What do you think?
