Daily Talker: Sledding Ban

This morning's Daily Talker is an appropriate topic given the weather we're experiencing this week.

We're talking about sledding---an activity in the winter that is a rite of passage for children and adults in New England.

But in recent years, communities here and across the country have banned the activity.

For example, leaders in Dubuque, Iowa voted Monday night to ban sledding to protect the city from liability in the event someone gets hurt on city property. It's happened in Massachusetts, too. In 2011, sledding was banned at Raynham Middle School because officials were worried children could get seriously injured.
