Daily Talker: Protesting The Market Basket Job Fair

Dozens of workers demanding the return of ousted CEO Arthur T. Demoulas protested outside a Market Basket warehouse in Andover, during the first day of a three-day job fair held by the company.

The workers greeted any car coming or going with a chorus of jeers, just in case it was a job applicant.

"I think this job fair is just a bullying tactic by the company. It's a ruse. They threatened to fire us two other times we showed 'em today we're not standing for their bull," one protester told WBZ-TV.

In response, the Market Basket board of directors released a statement saying potential workers who are worried about their safety if they go the job fair can apply online. That angered the protesting workers.

"There may be a few people that are scared," said one worker. When asked if applicants have to worry about their safety, the worker said, "No, no. We're not violent."

Should current workers be protesting at the job fair site? Is the offer to let applicants apply by e-mail just a PR move by the company? Share your comments below, and watch for them on WBZ News in the Morning from 4:30 to 7:00 a.m.
