Daily Talker: Pet Tattoos - Legal Or Illegal?

A new law in New York state will make it illegal for pet owners to tattoo or pierce their pets.

Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the law yesterday that will go into effect in 120 days.

Penalties for violations range up to 15 days in jail and fines up to $250.

Support for the law grew last summer when a Brooklyn tattoo artist posted a photograph of his dog online, saying the dog was tattooed after surgery but was still under anesthesia.

But the act still sparked outrage and culminated in yesterday's bill signing.
