Daily Talker: Milton Man Says Job Offer Rescinded Because Of Same-Sex Spouse

A man from Milton is filing a discrimination complaint against a Catholic school, after it found out he was married to a man.

Matthew Barrett says Fontbonne Academy hired him as a food services director at the all-girls school, but rescinded the offer when he put his husband's name down as an emergency contact.

"I was stunned. I have to say I was hurt that they could do this," Barrett told WBZ-TV. "I mean, this was a great job. I was really, really excited about this position."

Fontbonne Academy says it does not comment on personnel matters.

Should the school be allowed to rescind the offer because it is a religious institution, or should the school be ordered to give Barrett the job back? Share your comments below, and watch for them on WBZ News in the Morning from 4:30 to 7:00 am.
