Daily Talker: Late Night MBTA Service To Start March 28

We now know when late-night bus and subway service on the weekends will begin in Boston: March 28.

Our media partners at the Boston Globe report Governor Patrick and Mayor Walsh will officially make the announcement Thursday morning at a news conference at Kendall Station. The $20 million cost will be paid for by corporate sponsors.

As part of the pilot program, subway trains and 15 of the most popular bus routes will continue running until 3 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday mornings. If the test is successful, it may be continued. The T currently ends service at 1 a.m., even though bars are open until 2 a.m.

A previous late night service started in 2001 that used only buses failed due to low ridership.

Will you take advantage of the late-night bus and subway service? Do you think it's a good use of the money? Share your comments below, and watch for them on WBZ News in the Morning from 4:30 to 7 a.m.
