Daily Talker: Is The World Cup Dream Over?

A late rally wasn't enough to keep our World Cup dreams alive. The US men's team fell to Belgium 2-1, eliminating them from the tournament. Despite the loss, it was exciting. And a record breaker. Goalie Tim Howard made 16 saves. The most saves in the World Cup since 1966, when they started keeping records. But, it just wasn't enough.

Whether you're a soccer fan, played soccer as a child or never thought twice about the sport, you still may have caught World Cup fever.

Thousands of people across the country watched the games on big screens in parks and stadiums. Mayor Marty Walsh hosted two viewing parties at City Hall Plaza in Boston.

We couldn't stop watching the games on television. More than 14 million viewers watched USA take on Germany at noon last Thursday. It was the second highest-rated soccer match in US history. The highest-ever ratings were on Sunday, June 22nd, when the American men tied Portugal. An estimated 24.7 million viewers watched that game on television.
