Daily Talker: Hack Attacks

The same day that moviegoers were able to watch the controversial new comedy "The Interview" for the first time, there was yet another cyberattack by a hacker group. Sony's PlayStation and Microsoft's Xbox Live gaming networks experienced widespread problems on Christmas Day. A group called "Lizard Squad" claimed responsibility for the disruption. The timing was critical because many gamers received new systems for Christmas and added to the potential traffic on one of the busiest gaming days of the year.

It does not appear this hacking incident is connected to the one by another group earlier this month that threatened violence to moviegoers who attended screenings of "The Interview". Sony initially decided to pull the release of the movie but then reversed course and released the movie in smaller theaters nationwide and on the internet.
