Daily Talker: Changing Budweiser To "America" On Beer Labels

A change is brewing. Budweiser has long used patriotic branding including American flags on its cans and bottles. But this summer, they're hoping to take that patriotism one step further. The company that owns Budweiser wants to replace the name "Budweiser" with "America" on its labels. The goal is to capitalize on American pride that is typically at its height during the summer holiday season. In addition to the Fourth of July, this year people will also enjoy cheering on team USA at the Summer Olympics. The company that now owns Budweiser is based in Belgium, but the beer is still brewed in St. Louis. InBev is asking for approval from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau to make the change. What do you think? Do you like this idea? Is it ok for a foreign-based company to capitalize on American pride?
