Daily Talker: Body Camera Debate

On Monday, the White House pledged $263 million in new federal funding for 50,000 body cameras, as well as expand training for law enforcement and more resources for police department reform. The executive order comes after the unrest Ferguson, Missouri, and a grand jury's decision not to indict Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of 18 year old Michael Brown. Many applaud the move, saying cameras could potentially resolve the type of disputes between police and witnesses that arose in the Ferguson shooting. Others disagree. Mayor Marty Walsh told the Boston Globe that the cameras "aren't going to help with the fundamental problems between community and police." Others say there won't be enough cameras to go around given that there are 630,000 police officers nationwide. What do you think? Would you support police officers in your town wearing body cameras?
