Daily Talker: App Lets You Sell Your Great Parking Space

Finding a parking space in cities like Boston is usually a challenge. A new smartphone app is looking to change that.

"Monkey Parking" allows drivers to buy a spot from someone who is already in it. Right now, it's only available in San Francisco, but promises to expand to other cities.

Here's how it works: users who already have a car in a space post that they are getting ready to leave, and name a price ranging from $5 to $20 to hold it for another user. People looking to park can see the soon-to-be available spots on a map along with the price for each one, and can pay to have a space held until they get there.

The City of San Francisco isn't sure if this is a good idea, and the City Attorney's Office says it is looking into whether it's legal to profit off public parking spaces.
