Dad's Day Delight & Summer Heat Arrives on Cue

Can you believe it's already mid June?  Father's Day weekend is just days away along with the official start to summer.  Whether you plan on cooking some burgers on the grill, hitting the links with Dad or just enjoying the day together – our weather couldn't be better!

What a beautiful stretch. Today will feature sunshine and some building cumulus clouds with highs climbing into the 80s (70s on Cape Cod). It'll be another gorgeous day tomorrow, although temperatures will be slightly "cooler" at the coast with seabreezes developing. For those that like slightly cooler readings, Friday is the day to enjoy, with highs ranging from around 70 at the coast to the mid 70s inland. There's a weak upper level disturbance overhead on Friday that may touch off an isolated shower through the interior, but most of us will stay dry.

Now originally, the weekend forecast was slightly unsettled and uncertain, particularly for Father's Day. Some of our operational guidance products had an area of low pressure slowing down and cutting off to our south then slowly backing up towards us.  The ensembles (models that are run a number of times with slightly different starting conditions) have been pretty consistent  showing a big ridge of high pressure dominating our weather across the Northeast. Right now, it looks like the latter scenario will win out – with the real deep summer heat and humidity close by, but not over us…yet.

Mother Nature has a knack for timing! As that ridge builds east for the start of next week, dewpoints will start to climb and temperatures will flirt with 90 on the first day of summer.  It'll be hot again on Tuesday ahead of a cold front that will likely trigger thunderstorms as it approaches. We'll keep you posted on that in the days to come.
