DA Releases Surveillance Video Of Everett Officer-Involved Shooting

EVERETT (CBS) -- Investigators have made public a surveillance video showing the fatal shooting of a knife-wielding man by an Everett police officer.

The Middlesex County District Attorney's office also released 911 calls of the incident that occurred on April 21.

The officer responded to Broadway Street for a report of a man who was harassing pedestrians. The man, Mario Mejia Martinez, 48, of Everett, is seen on video pulling a knife on the approaching officer and then charging at the officer before he is shot.

Investigators said they have already shown the footage to Martinez's family.

"These videos will give the public access to preliminary facts while we continue to conduct a full, fair and thorough investigation into this matter," District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a public statement. "At the conclusion of the investigation we will be releasing a full report."

Some people may find the video disturbing.
