DA: Mass. Man In Child Porn Case Faces Drug Charges

WORCESTER (AP) — The Worcester district attorney says an Auburn man arrested on child pornography charges also faces charges of manufacturing and possessing methamphetamine.

Thirty-year-old Derek Ransom pleaded not guilty Friday in Worcester Central District Court to possessing and disseminating child pornography and was ordered held on $20,000 cash bail.

District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said arrest warrants also were filed Friday on the new drug charges.

Early said state police arrested Ransom Thursday night after carrying out a search warrant on his home and computer. The prosecutor said they also found a bucket of chemicals and got a second search warrant, which turned up evidence of a drug lab at the home on Friday.

At his court hearing, Ransom was ordered to avoid the internet, computers and to have no contact with children if he posts bail.
