Boy Struck, Killed By School Bus In Mansfield

MANSFIELD (CBS) -- A 13-year-old boy riding a bicycle was struck and killed by a school bus in Mansfield on Wednesday afternoon.

Dozens of children were on the bus at the time of the crash at 2 p.m. on East Street. Witnesses say the bus was filled with middle and high school students.

Heather Gage was about to pick her own son up when she pulled up to the scene just moments after the collision.

"I saw the bus had pulled onto the sidewalk," Gage said. "There was the body and I had to do a double take."

Witnesses say it appeared the boy had been riding on or near the sidewalk. The boy was struck near a bike path.

The students were quickly taken to a different bus, then to school where their parents were called.
