Cyclist Killed In Charlestown Accident Identified As Chelsea Man

BOSTON (CBS) – The cyclist killed when he was struck by a garbage truck in Charlestown has been identified by the Suffolk District Attorney's office as Owen McGrory, 30, of Chelsea,

The driver of the truck, Ricky Prezioso, 41, of Swampscott, has pleaded not guilty to fleeing the scene of an accident.

McGrory was hit at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Spice Street and Cambridge Street near Sullivan Square.

Officials said Prezioso told police he thought he struck a pothole and after checking his truck farther down Spice Street he continued on his route. His lawyer says the cyclist initiated the contact.

Prezioso is scheduled to return to court May 19.
