Cyclist Hit And Killed In Charlton

CHARLTON (CBS) -- A man on his bicycle was hit and killed in Charlton Friday afternoon.

Police say the crash happened at about 3:30 Friday afternoon on Route 20 in Charlton. That's at the corner of Worcester and Southbridge Roads.

Investigators say the cyclist rode out of a side street and was attempting to cross the highway when he was hit by the 1997 Audi sedan.

The driver of the car that struck the bicyclist, a 54-year-old man from Wilbraham, stayed on the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The bicycle rider was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

The names of the driver and the bicyclist are not being released at this time.
