CrossFit Florian Hosts 'WOD' For Fallen Firefighter

BOSTON (CBS) ---Friends and former colleagues of fallen firefighter Michael Kennedy, turned out for a CrossFit workout in his honor, Sunday.

The event was run by two Boston firefighters who work and teach at CrossFit Florian. Kennedy was a Crossfit trainer and avid gym go-er.

Funds raised from the daylong event totaled nearly $20,000.

The workout attracted mainly first responders, firefighters and numerous spectators.

"He had a lot of friends and everyone loved him. Even people that didn't know him are showing up," CrossFit Florian member and Boston firefighter Antone McCatty said.

The workout or "WOD" consisted of 33 calories on the rowing machine, 15 deadlifts and four rope climbs. Competitors were to complete as many rounds as possible in 20.4 minutes.

Then: L2 185/135, 7 Pull ups + 7 Jump Squats x4
L3 135/95, 7 Ring Rows + 7 Jump Squats x4

Each participant was urged to make a $25 donation to the memorial fund.
