Watch: Mayor Walsh Provides Update On Boston's COVID-19 Response

BOSTON (CBS) -- Boston Mayor Marty Walsh gave an update on the city's response to COVID-19 Tuesday afternoon. You can watch the update in the video above.

He reminded residents to spend the holidays with their immediate household and not hold parties.

"Our choices now could make a difference in what January or February look like here in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts but also in this country," Walsh said. "I know that it's tempting and it's been a difficult year for a lot of people and you want to bring other folks into your household, but that's not safe for you, that's not safe for them, that's not safe fore the people you may come in contact with."

As of Monday, there were 7,451 active coronavirus cases in Boston.

On Tuesday, Gov. Charlie Baker announced additional COVID restrictions across the state would go into effect on Saturday.
