Lawrence Court Officer Charged With Raping Shackled Inmate
LAWRENCE (CBS) -- A Lawrence court officer is accused of raping a shackled female inmate on three separate occasions, authorities said Wednesday.
Lawrence District Court Officer Jose F. Martinez, 46, is charged with three counts of rape and four counts of indecent assault and battery, a spokeswoman for Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said in a statement.
The charges follow an investigation by Massachusetts State Police detectives working with the district attorney.
Martinez was expected to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Lawrence District Court.
No other information was immediately available.
