Group To Give Consumer Award To Market Basket

BOSTON (AP) — Market Basket and Fresh Truck will receive awards from the Massachusetts Bar Association for demonstrating the highest commitment to their customers.

The legal group will present the 2015 MBA Pinnacle Awards on Wednesday as part of its second annual Consumer Advocacy Symposium.

The awards recognize one large and one small company that have taken steps to improve the consumer experience in Massachusetts.

The MBA cited the outpouring of support Market Basket received from its customers in 2014 when many employees walked off the job after their boss lost control of the company's board. Customers boycotted the chain's grocery stores to support the workers.

The group praised Fresh Truck — a mobile food market — for identifying novel and creative ways of delivering healthy food options to low-income residents.
