Collection Boot Stolen From Boylston Street Firehouse

BOSTON (CBS) -- A collection boot kept outside the firehouse on Boylston Street was stolen late Saturday night, according to the Boston Fire Department.

The boot was used to collect money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The boot was attached to a metal box which was also stolen.

Boston Fire says this is not the first incident of boot theft at a firehouse.

"This act is the rare exception to how supportive the people are," the department tweeted on Monday.

Lt. Ed Walsh and firefighter Michael Kennedy, both killed in March 2014 fighting a fire in the Back Bay, were stationed at the firehouse.
