Police say he was visiting Delaware when he fell from the roof of a 3-story building. It's unclear why he was at the Delaware campus.

"Will had been a member of the Skidmore community for less than a year but had already made many connections with students, faculty, staff, and teammates who will grieve his loss very deeply," Skidmore College President Philip A. Glotzbach wrote in a letter to the students and staff.

Before heading to college, Golden played for a year with the Eastern Hockey League team the Boston Bandits.

Police are investigating the incident.
