Owner Of Boat That Washed Up On Martha's Vineyard Located

MARTHA'S VINEYARD (CBS) – The U.S. Coast Guard has located the owner of an unmanned sailboat  that washed a shore on Martha's Vineyard on Friday night, WBZ NewsRadio 1030 reported.

At around 10 p.m., Coast Guard officials received a call from the Dukes County Police Department about a 13-foot Hobie Cat boat that had washed ashore, according to the Coast Guard. The sail on the boat was up and the rudder was down. Also, lines were hanging from the deck and dirty footprints could be seen the boat's surface.

Boats from Woods Hole, Station Menemsha, Air Station Cape Cod and other facilities began searching for anybody floating in the water, according to the Coast Guard.

Also, police went house-to-house searching for the boat's owner, the Coast Guard said.

When dawn came, an HC-144 aircraft was launched to search for people in the water.
